David "The Cobra Kid" Weathers

David

Born in 1977 native to South Florida David "The Cobra Kid" Weathers got his interest in wild animals at the young age of 3 years old when he saw legendary snake handler and venom expert Bill Haast at the Miami Serpentarium. After watching him handle a 14' King Cobra, David knew from that day on that's what he wanted to do. Growing up with a passion for snakes his interest in the Animal Kingdom grew stronger as he saw performers such as Gunther Gable Williams of Ringling Bros. Circus and local alligator wrestlers on the Seminole Indian Reservation in Hollywood, FL. Seeing these people co-exist with these dangerous animals drew David more towards his dreams of becoming an animal handler and trainer.

At age 10 David started volunteering at The Native Village in Hollywood, FL. One year later he began training to become an Alligator Wrestler and by the time he was 14 he was doing it professionally. The Native Village became the anchor for David to excel in what he wanted out of life. For over 10 years working at the Village David gained experience handling and training Cougars, Bears, and other various species of wild animals. In the past 3 years David even had the opportunity to work with African Elephants.

Over the years of handling animals David received his share of animal attacks and injuries from alligator’s teeth to the claws of the African Lion. Not letting any of this detour him from success David kept jumping right back into the danger zone until one day in January 2002 David had a near fatal bite to the stomach from an Asian Monocled Cobra.

This bite steered David's career in the animal world drastically but in a positive way. The entire snake bite was caught on tape and struck the interest of several TV shows. Since then David has made appearances on many different shows and still to this day has more projects on the agenda. You may have seen David on shows such as Ripley's Believe it or Not, Impact: Stories of Survival on Discovery Health Channel, The Montel Williams Show, several appearances on MTV's WildBoyz, Venom 911 on Animal Planet, Steve-O video vol. 3 "Out on Bail", Jackass 2.5, Cook What You Catch, Untamed and Uncut, I Was Bitten, 1000 Ways to Die, Jackass 2D, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and a 1 hour special on Discovery Channel "Anatomy of a Snakebite". David has also done world tour with the Don't Try This at Home Tour feat. Steve-O, Manny Puig, and other cast members from MTV's "Jackass". David also recently appeared on America’s Got Talent Season 8 with his snake handling acts.
